When two points move apart: deviation, divergence and amalgamated social orders
Abstract
This research article aims to analyze and problematize the categories of deviance, divergence and social order. For this purpose, the text makes a bibliographical review of the mentioned notions, emphasizing in Latin America, where crime and non-compliance with the rules is a constant. The research approach is hermeneutic and moves in the field of criminology and legal
sociology. The partial findings of the research are the following: firstly, it is necessary to move from the notion of deviance to divergence; secondly, it is important that the concept of divergence is complemented by the thesis of spontaneous amalgamated orders to better understand the problem of crime and non-compliance with norms. This text is divided into three parts: in the first, the relationship between deviance and divergence is problematized; in the second, the notion of amalgamated social orders is raised; and the third presents some conclusions.
