About the Journal
INTRODUCTION
The journal New Paradigms of Latin American Social Sciences is a biannual, electronic publication that aims to disseminate selected articles by Latin American scholars and scholars from other contexts among the academic community. These articles address the historical, social, economic, political, and cultural problems and processes of societies and their individuals. The journal's purpose is to publish research findings that represent a novel, pertinent, and relevant contribution to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
The journal publishes nine research articles per issue, plus a section entitled "Featured Latin American Thinker," a documentary appendix, and a book review section.
ILAE'S POSITION ON ETHICS IN ITS PUBLICATIONS
The publication of research articles in a peer-reviewed journal or the publication of research-based books is a fundamental pillar in the creation of a respected Latin American network of knowledge in the social sciences, a network that becomes a key resource for students, professors, and researchers. It will reflect the quality of the published authors, as well as the institutions to which they are affiliated.
Peer-reviewed articles are based on the scientific method; hence the importance of agreement on the standards expected of ethical behavior from all parties involved in the editing and publication process of the Journal and the books published by the publishing house.
The ILAE assumes responsibility for compliance with the policies and standards established in the "Instructions for Authors" and its Style Manual (found under "Guidelines for Authors"), which aim to improve scientific communication and promote ethical dissemination of research results in its publications.
The journal Nuevos Paradigmas de las Ciencias Sociales Latinoamericanas (New Paradigms of Latin American Social Sciences) has been a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) since July 2015, and as such, adheres to the Code of Conduct for Editors of Scholarly Journals of this important UK institution (available at [https://members.publicationethics.org/members/revista-nuevos-paradigmas-de-las-ciencias-sociales-latinoamericanas]).
The ILAE (Latin American Institute of Academic and Scientific Research) places on its scientific and technical editors the responsibility of detecting and reporting cases of plagiarism, research containing false information, or authorship disputes, as a fundamental aspect of the peer review process.
Issues corresponding to the first half of the year (January-June) are published the first week of July; issues corresponding to the second half of the year (July-December) are published the third week of January. Materials are accepted throughout the year, except during the collective vacation period, which runs from the third week of December to the Second week of January of the following year.
