Abstract

This research aims to identify the current relevance of sole proprietorships in the jurisdiction of the Chamber of Commerce of Barranquilla up to the year 2024. This is done considering the limited current coverage and knowledge about these enterprises and, on the otherhand, the significant number of formations of Simplified Stock Corporations due to their similar aspects. To achieve this article, we first describe the origin, development, and regulation of sole proprietorships in Colombia. Subsequently, we compare sole proprietorships with Simplified Stock Corporations within the Colombian legal framework. Finally, we analyze the figures related to the establishment, transformation, and liquidation of sole proprietorships in the jurisdiction of the Chamber of Commerce of Barranquilla.
