About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The journal New Paradigms of Latin American Social Sciences is a biannual, electronic publication that aims to disseminate selected articles by Latin American scholars and scholars from other contexts among the academic community. These articles address the historical, social, economic, political, and cultural problems and processes of societies and their individuals. The journal's purpose is to publish research results that represent a novel, pertinent, and relevant contribution to the advancement of scientific knowledge.

The journal publishes nine research articles per issue, plus a section entitled "Featured Latin American Thinker," a documentary appendix, and a book review section.

Peer Review Process

Peer-reviewed articles are based on the scientific method. Therefore, it is crucial to agree on the standards of ethical conduct expected of all parties involved in the editing and publication process of the journal and the books published by the press.

The ILAE assumes responsibility for complying with the policies and standards established in the "Guidelines for Authors" and its Style Manual, which aim to improve scientific communication and promote ethics in the dissemination of research results in its publications.

The journal Nuevos Paradigmas de las Ciencias Sociales Latinoamericanas (New Paradigms of Latin American Social Sciences) has been a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) since July 2015, and as such, subscribes to the Code of Conduct for Editors of Scholarly Journals of this important UK institution (available at [http://publicationethics.org/files/Code%20of%20Conduct_2.pdf]).

The ILAE (International Institute of Latin American Studies) places on its scientific and technical editors the responsibility of detecting and reporting cases of plagiarism, research containing false information, or authorship disputes, as a fundamental aspect of the peer review process.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that offering the public free access to research helps foster a greater global exchange of knowledge.
